Nation or Notion?
An international Performance Studies conference
University of Wales, Bangor
June 5-6 2004
Deadline for proposals: May 16th 2004 (email addresses below)
Nation or Notion? is an international conference examining ideas of
national identity, nationalism and nationhood, and covering all areas of
performance and theatre studies -- 'critical' research as well as
discussions/examples of research-through-practice.
The conference will be held in the Centre for Creative and Performing Ar=

mountain range, and will include papers, workshops, presentations and
performances. It will coincide with a Special Issue of Studies in Theatre
and Performance (guest eds: Graeme Harper & Nic Ros) concentrating on the
theme of 'Nation or Notion?' from a Welsh perspective. The Nation or
Notion? conference itself, however, is interested in these themes globall=
