	TEMPORARY LECTURESHIP IN TURKISH STUDIES

The University of Manchester is one of the UK's leading centres
for research and teaching on the languages, history, religions,
literatures and cultures of the Middle East. The international
standing of research in this area was recognised by the award of
grade 5 in the Research Assessment Exercises of 1996 and 2001.
In October, 2004, Middle Eastern Studies will join with other
language-based disciplines in the single University of Manchester
to form the School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures.
Middle Eastern Studies will have a significant role to play in the
School's development. Candidates with research and teaching expertise
in Turkish Studies are encouraged to apply for this post.  The
successful candidate will offer course units at postgraduate and
undergraduate level in Turkish literature and contribute to the
Turkish language-teaching programme.

The post is available for ten months from 1 September, 2004.

Salary in the range of =A323,643 - =A327,116 per annum.
