The conference will examine social policies and their outcomes from
multiple perspectives and assess current challenges to social progress.
Planned topics include, "Can we Afford Social Welfare in a Global
Economy?," "The Future of the Social Democratic Model," "Social Policy
and Populations with Special Needs," and Challenges to Social Welfare in
the 21st Century."

Joseph Stiglitz, Nobel Laureate in Economics,
Joakim Palme, Professor of Sociology, Stockholm University
Interdisciplinary panel of scholars discussing trends in social well-being
in eight developed nations
Call for Papers on:
21st Century Challenges to Social and Economic Well-being.
Abstracts must be submitted by July 16, 2004.
The best paper by a graduate student will receive a special citation.
