Socius - email list about sociology of literature
Sociology of literature has taken in the last fifty years a number of
various theoretical directions: sociocriticism, social discourse
analysis, study of the literary field, institutions, literary groups and
associations, socio-poetic, reader=A1=AFs sociology, sociology of the
editing world, etc. Because of this very diverse theoretical activity,
researches coming from a sociological approach of literature have, =A8D
and as the lack of a peer-reviewed journal shows =A8D, never succeeded at
coordinating themselves at an international level. The email list
Socius, launched at the initiative of the multi-university group
COnTEXTES and the Coll=A8=A8ge de sociocritique of Montreal, has given
itself the goal of reducing this shattering through information
diffusion and friendly intellectual emulation.
The Socius list welcomes all sorts of useful information and privileges
a large approach of the discipline: the subscribers can announce
seminars, study days and conferences, book and article publications,
students=A1=AF thesis submissions, positions openings, prizes, scholarshi=
ps
and international exchanges programs, etc. The Socius list also proposes
to host calls of articles and book chapters, questions, and, if
appropriate, debates on controversial questions.
Any message proposal should be written in French or in English, and
submitted to the website managers, who may choose to publish information
in an other language if it proves to be of major interest.
