The journal _Culture, Medicine, and Psychiatry_ has just published a
special issue focused on Turkey (Vol. 28, 2004). As Mary-Jo DelVecchio
Good and Michael Fischer=92s introduction to the issue explains: "These
articles - by Christopher Dole, on secularism and modernism in medicine
in Turkey, Aslihan Sanal, on organ trafficking in the Middle East, and
Iman Roushdy-Hammady, on research politics of cancer risk and the cancer
risk experiences of Anatolian Turks - represent a 21st-century medical
anthropology, one deeply engaged in contemporary global as well as local
political economies of medicine, from research and genetics to cutting
edge practices and medical markets."
