Istanbul Bilgi University is announcing the second Summer Programme on Gr=
eek
and Turkish Studies:

=93TURKEY AND GREECE: TRANSCENDING THE PAST AND EMBRACING THE FUTURE.=94

Last year=92s summer programme attracted many students from Cyprus, Greec=
e,
Turkey and other Balkan countries. Through this programme, the students n=
ot
only acquired specific knowledge with regard to Greece and Turkey, but al=
so
improved their sensitivity concerning the region, i.e., the Balkans in
general.

This year=92s programme is the result of a joint effort between ?stanbul =
Bilgi
University and the University of the Aegean, Mytilini, Lesvos. The progra=
mme
is divided into two sections: first part will be in Istanbul between 7 ? =

July, 2004 and the second part will take place in Mytilini, Lesvos Island
between 26 ? 30 July, 2004.

The 2004 Summer Programme is designed as a series of lectures by prominen=

Workshops will take place in Mytilini between the dates July 26th ? 30th =
at
the University of the Aegean. NGOs and Peace Building, Gastronomical
traditions of the Aegean and Film-making will be the topics workshops.
Students will be allowed to select only one of them. Each workshop will l=
ast
approximately 6 hours everyday.

A limited number of scholarships are available to highly qualified studen=
ts.

Prospective students will be selected among the majors of Political Scien=
ce,
International Relations, History, Economics, Sociology, Anthropology,
Psychology, Legal Studies, and Communications and Media Studies.

The deadline for application is June 1st 2004. Application must me receiv=
ed
by ?stanbul Bilgi University until this date.
