CALL FOR PAPERS!
Language Attitudes and Popular Linguistics Area
Popular Culture Association Conference
San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter

April 7-10, 2004
The Language Attitudes and Popular Linguistics area of the Popular
Culture Association is seeking presentations on any language-related popular-
culture topic. Papers presented last year analyzed subjects ranging from gender-
categorizing language on gravestones and perceived rudeness in film reviews to
the language of talk shows, donation-solicitation outer envelopes and the
Apostles’ Creed. Paper length is typically 15 to 20 minutes, as four presenters
share 90 minutes of session time.
If this area speaks to you, please submit an abstract of up to 250 words,
accompanied by each presenter's name, position/title, school/work address and
phone number, e-mail address, and a 25-50 word abstract and short presenter
biography for publicity purposes, to the area chair by NOV. 15, 2003* (electronic
submissions are welcome):
