  *_Visiting Scholars Programme 2004/2005_*

The Programme on Contemporary Turkey (PCT) at the University of Oxford
invites applications under its visiting scholars programme. It intends
to make up to four awards under the programme to the end of the academic
year 2004/2005. The normal period of the appointment would span three
months, and cover at least part of an Oxford term (Oct-Dec; Jan-Mar;
Apr-June), however applications for shorter (minimum one month) or
longer (maximum six) periods would be considered. As well as being given
the title 'visiting scholar', the visitor would also normally receive a
College affiliation. Benefits would include economy return ticket from
home country, most local costs (eg accommodation, work room, meals in
College), access to the libraries and archive resources of the
University and a stipend of £250/week.

Applicants should have a strong record of research from any of the
disciplines of the humanities and social studies. The visiting scholar
would be expected to play an active role in the activities of the
University with respect to the study of contemporary Turkey and to
deliver at least one formal lecture on a related subject of his/her
choosing.

Applicants should send a copy of their CV (including major
publications), together with a 1,000 word (maximum) description of their
current research interests to Ms Carol Davies, Oriental Institute, Pusey
Lane, Oxford, OX1 2LE, UK or email carol.davies@orinst.ox.ac.uk
<mailto:carol.davies@orinst.ox.ac.uk> to reach her no later than 23
January 2004.
