Writing Outside the Nation:
Professor Azade Seyhan (Bryn Mawr College) on Diasporic Literature
in conversation with Dr. Dalia Kandiyoti (CUNY-College of Staten Island)

Faculty of Economics Building, Bilkent University
Professor Seyhan, Fairbank Professor in the Humanities and Professor of
German and Comparative Literature, will be discussing with Dr. Kandiyoti
her book Writing Outside the Nation (Princeton UP, 2001) devoted to
diasporic authors in the United States and Germany. The two
Istanbul-born scholars will also touch upon general issues concerning
the present state of comparative literature.
The lecture-conversation will take place by video conferencing through
New York On Air. It will be conducted in English; the audience may then
ask questions in Turkish.
Coffee will be served from 17:30 hrs. onwards.
