Disability Studies Panel(s)-November 6-9 2003
Mid-Atlantic Popular/American Culture Association
Wilmington, Delaware
Disability Studies encompasses work being done in a wide range of
disciplines including, but not limited to, law, urban planning, history,
sociology, education, philosophy, literature, health sciences, and
religious studies. As well, significant work is being produced outside
of
the academy by disability rights activists. Papers (about 10 pages) or
proposals (about 150 words) are invited from academics and non-academics
alike that deal with any issues relevant to disability studies. In the
past, multiple panels have been organised to reflect the diversity of
work
being done from papers that focus on the legal challenges faced by the
disabled citizen to papers that focus on the impact of cultural
representations of disability. Scholars from Italy, India, Canada, and
the United States have presented their work at this conference in the
past. Please send papers, abstracts, or enquiries to
holly.crumpton@sympatico.ca by June 15, 2003. If you have any a.v.
needs,
please note them.
