SOCIETY FOR CINEMA AND MEDIA STUDIES
Annual Conference, March 4-7, 2004, Atlanta, Georgia
Panel topic: Class and the Mediated Body
Whether overweight, pumped up, or slimmed down, the body is a
signifier of class--particularly, an individual's ability or failure
to "measure up" in an image-conscious society. This panel seeks
historical and contemporary perspectives on the ways class has been
inscribed on the mediated body.
Please send all inquiries and proposals (following SCMS submission
guidelines) by August 15 via email to co-chairs Andrew Douglas
(Northwestern Univ.) at a-douglas1@northwestern.edu and Jerry Mosher
(UCLA) at jdmosher@earthlink.net
