From: Carel Bertram <carel@california.com>

As new faculty at San Francisco State, I am now part of the
University's project to examine the possibility of creating an
Islamic Studies Program. Two new positions in Islamic studies were
created before September 11th (my own, in Humanities, and one in
History) to complement scholars who are already teaching related
subjects. Now searches will go out in the fields of political
science, international relations, psychology and, as below,
philosophy. Please spread the word (this is also to appear on the
H-NET Job Guide). It is a wonderful institution.

Carel Bertram
Dept. of Humanities
San Francisco State University.
