CALL FOR PAPERS on the subject of
Technical Communication and Popular Culture

24th Annual Southwest/Texas Popular Culture/American Culture Conference
Albuquerque Hilton & Fairfield Inn by Marriott
Albuquerque, New Mexico
February 12-15, 2003

All proposals in the area of Technical Communication and Popular Culture

will be considered.

Possible topics include:
Methods for popularizing science
Novelists as technical writers
Views of technical writers in popular culture (e.g., Tina, the technical

writers from _Dilbert_)
Interpretations of science and technology for the public
Use of multimedia to teach technical communication skills in corporate
or
academic settings

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES AND DEADLINE:

Submit a 250-word abstract and brief biographical sketch to the area
chair
listed below by December 1, 2002. Panel presentations of 3-4 speakers,
roundtable sessions, and alternative formats are encouraged. Audiovisual

needs (VCR, monitor, 16mm slide projector, overhead projector, etc.)
should
be included with your proposal. Email submissions are welcome; please do
not
send attachments unless absolutely necessary.
