CFP: Workshops of the 4th Mediterranean Social and Political Research
(MSPR) Florence 19-23/3/2003

Introduction
The Mediterranean Programme of the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced
Studies at the European University Institute in Florence (Italy) is
organising the Fourth Mediterranean Social and Political Research (MSPR)
Meeting which will take place from 19-23 March 2003 in Florence and will
bring together about 200 scholars from the Middle East & North Africa
(MENA), Europe, and elsewhere.

Structure of the Meeting
The core structure of the Meeting is workshops in which approximately
ten participants and two workshop directors discuss original research.
The members of each workshop meet in four of five sessions for a total
of approximately fifteen hours in which they discuss papers, general
topics, ways to publish the papers and how to continue collaborative
efforts.

Applications
Candidates for participation in a workshop can apply by sending:

 Filled out Application Form (including the abstract of the proposed
paper - 250 words in English)
 Curriculum Vitae (of max. 5 pages)

Before applying, candidates should read the detailed information of the
workshop of interest.

Deadline for applications to be received: 17 July 2002

Applications should preferably be sent by e-mail, to medmeet@iue.it

Financial Support
All participants that comply with the above-mentioned conditions will
receive travel allowances and hotel accommodation discount.

Selection Process
The workshop directors are responsible for the selection of the
applications. Results of the selection process will be communicated to
all applicants by the end of September 2002.

,Language of Communication
Abstracts should be written in English. Papers should be written and
presentations be made in English or French. A working knowledge of
English is required. There will be no translation services available.
Workshops could, however, be held in a further language common to all
workshop participants.
