<p style="MARGIN:0cm 0cm 0pt" class="MsoNormal"><span style="FONT-FAMILY:'Garamond','serif'"><font size="3"><font face="garamond,serif">Mit der Ausrufung der Republik hatte sich die Türkei zum Ziel gesetzt, eine in allen Lebensbereichen andere Ordnung als im Osmanischen Reich herzustellen. Im Zuge der allgemeinen Neubebauung begann insbesondere auch die Planung von Park- und Grünanlagen. In dieser Arbeit werden die politischen, wirtschaftlichen und kulturellen Einflüsse auf die Entwicklung des städtischen Raumes in Izmir aufgezeigt. So werden die Veränderungen der Grün- und Parkanlagen in den Zusammenhang des republikanischen Entwicklungsprozesses der Stadt Izmir gestellt. Den Ausgangspunkt bildet die osmanische Gartenkultur und deren Einfluss auf historische Stadtentwicklungsprozesse. Von dort schlägt das Buch einen Bogen zur Entwicklung der Kulturparkanlage und der Messe Izmir. Insgesamt wird ein Beitrag zur Untersuchung der Gartenkultur und Freiraumentwicklung in der Türkei geleistet.</font></font></span></p>
