“Culture and Middle Eastern Studies”

10-12 December, 2010. Ankara, Turkey

The congress aims to bring together scholars of the Middle
East
to exchange ideas and findings concerning the mutual problems of the
region, and swap experiences about scientific methods and approaches
within Middle Eastern studies. This will be an excellent opportunity to
explore the varied intellectual trends across scholarly boundaries.
Among the growing trends, we will focuses on the cultural variables in
understanding political, economic, social, and historical issues. Such
trends are most important for our region since culture is essential for
attaining homogeneity and unity in the region while recognizing its
diversity. ATCOSS 2010 aims to reconsider cultural factors in relation
to other factors in attempting to build new untraditional perspectives
and approaches for Middle Eastern studies. The Congress invites the
researchers from all fields and branches of social sciences to
participate with papers in Arabic, Turkish or English. We suggest the
following themes (though not limited to):

International relations and issues.
Public policy
Society and the state
Political and economic development
Pedagogical theories and systems
Media and virtual reality studies
Comparative religion studies
Ethics of politics and economic practice
Acculturation and dialogue of civilizations
Innovation in literature and arts theory
Cross-cultures comparisons
Cities and urban transformations
Comparative history
Middle Eastern relations

Young Academics: The Congress specifically encourages young
academics interested in the regional affairs in general and the
Arab-Turkish affairs in particular. 10 young scholars (graduate
students) from Arab and Turkish sides will be completely sponsored to
attend the Congress.

Important Dates:

August 10th, 2010: Abstract/proposal submission

September 1st, 2010: Notification of Acceptance
