Fordham University&#8217;s Institute of International Humanitarian Affairs
(IIHA) invites applications for the position of Helen Hamlyn Senior
Fellow (HHSF).<br>
      <br>
Responsibilities: The Helen Hamlyn Senior Fellow works closely with the
IIHA Administrative Director on all aspects of strategic planning and
development of the Institute&#8217;s expanding academic and professional
training programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for
teaching a 2/1 course load and contributing to both the undergraduate
and graduate curriculum, including through the IIHA&#8217;s humanitarian
minor and its recently established Masters in Humanitarian Affairs
program. The HHSF may, in the course of his/her work, create further
partnerships with the United Nations system, nongovernmental
organizations (NGOs), and academic institutions to advance the IIHA
vision which supports multi-disciplinary approaches to humanitarianism
and professionalization in the field. The position is based in New
York. However the HHSF may serve as a representative of the IIHA at
symposia or conferences throughout the world, and some travel is
required. <br>

Qualifications: Ph.D. required; applicants from all areas of the social
sciences are encouraged to apply. The ideal candidate should have broad
experience in academic settings, knowledge of field-level humanitarian
operations, and be thoroughly familiar with the roles of current major
players in humanitarian work including the United Nations, relevant
governmental agencies NGOs, and academic institutions. Competitive

Founded in December 2001, the Institute of International Humanitarian
Affairs (IIHA) at Fordham University provides a vehicle through which
the field of humanitarian assistance may interact with local, national,
and international academic communities. The IIHA is based on two
foundational support structures: Fordham University and The Center for
International Humanitarian Cooperation (CIHC). For more information on

designed to forge partnerships with international and national relief
organizations, engages in academic publishing of books and monographs,
holds training courses for humanitarian practitioners and others, is a
founding member of the Inter-University Consortium on Security and
Humanitarian Action, and hosts symposia related to humanitarian
affairs. The IIHA facilitates humanitarian practitioners in developing
relationships with Fordham University and the international community
in New York City, in addition to being a university-wide center that
reports directly to the President of Fordham University. <br>
