A rapidly growing interest in memory studies is shared today by different academic disciplines. French sociologist and master of memory studies Maurice Halbwachs writes that "remembrance is paramount." Many scholars from different academic fields examine the past and memory in order to analyze current politics, ideologies, and identities. The most popular sources for looking at the past are documentaries, historical novels, fictional biographies, fiction, fine arts, and museums. Literary, cultural, intellectual, and political studies of history are highly interested in individual, collective, national, and cultural memories and how we come to terms with history and society. </font></span></p>
