<P><SPAN LANG="en-us"><FONT FACE="Arial">The department of history of the University of Virginia has begun a search for an historian of the Middle East and North Africa before 1850. The rank will be that of a tenure-track assistant professor. Successful applicants must be able to teach surveys of the Middle East and North Africa to 1500 and participate in graduate training. Ph.D., either in hand or near completion, is required.
