Languages and Civilizations at the University of Chicago invites applications
for a tenure-track position in Ottoman Turkish Language and Literature at the
assistant professor level to begin in the fall of 2007.<BR><BR>Applicants are
expected to have the Ph.D. completed before the appointment begins. They must
have a thorough grounding in Ottoman Turkish language and literature.
Familiarity with modern Turkish language and literature is also expected.
Candidates who meet these requirements, and whose backgrounds are in literary
theory, Turcology, or cultural and intellectual history are welcome to
apply.<BR><BR>The successful applicant will teach introductory and specialized
courses in Ottoman language as well as participate regularly in the
undergraduate curriculum.<BR><BR>Candidates should submit a letter of
