November 15, 2006).<BR><BR>The History Department in the College of Arts and
Sciences at American University in Washington, D.C. invites applications for a
tenure-track assistant professorship in the history of the Islamic World,
beginning fall semester 2007. We are seeking applicants with demonstrated
excellence in scholarship and teaching who will have completed their Ph.D. by
August, 2007. The ideal candidate will be able to offer undergraduate
courses<BR>commensurate with the broad sweep of Islamic society, and to offer
advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in his or her area of special
interest. Responsibilities will include teaching, advising and mentoring
students, conducting and publishing research, and participating in department,
college, and university service activities.<BR><BR>Please send letter of
