Texas Tech University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant 
professorship in the history of any region of<BR>the Muslim world. The period of 
specialization and the secondary fields are open. Interdisciplinary and 
versatility are encouraged. Applications<BR>from candidates who could use the 
university's Turkish History Oral Archive would be welcome. The successful 
candidate must be able to teach<BR>courses on the classical history of Islam and 
the modern Middle East. A strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate 
teaching and to research and publication is required. The successful candidate 
must have the Ph.D. completed at the time of the appointment.<BR><BR>Please end
