Oxford</STRONG><BR><BR>Art and Material Culture of Iranian Shi'ism (AMIS) is one
of the forums of the Society for Iranian Anthropology (SIA) which will gather
together<BR>academics, researchers, students who work on all aspects of Art and
Material Culture of Shi'ism in Iran and Persianate Societies.<BR><BR>They are a
group of anthropologists, historians of Islamic arts, folklorists,
archaeologists, theologians and historians who work on the Art and Material
Culture of Iranian Shi'ism both in Iran itself and in all Shiite communities
around the world. Their first meeting will take the form of their first
International Conference, to be held in July 2006 at the University of Oxford.
At this conference they will decide on further and future contributions and
research activities of this group. The second International Conference will be
on "Rituals and Ceremonies of Shi'ism in Iran and Shiite Communities" and will
